cBull – Energy Storage System
Run at optimum load – reduce emissions.
cBull Energy Storage System will make sure generators are optimized to run at optimum load. This allows for fewer engines connected to the switchboard as peaks in power demand are absorbed by the batteries and will result in 15–20% reduction in fuel consumption, maintenance costs, CO2 emissions and increases redundancy.
Operation modes
The operation mode of ESS can be controlled automatically by the embedded Energy Management System or by the operator.
The main operation modes are:
Use Cases
The cBull Energy Storage System (ESS) is beneficial to use when either the power demand on the grid is not aligning to the power production capabilities of the grid or the load ramp of the different grid loads exceeds the power plant capabilities.
Another use case is where there a need for spare capacity in case there is a sudden reduction of power generating sets on the grid due to a shutdown of a generator.
For DP vessels the cBull ESS can also be used as a backup source of power allowing DP operations with closed bus-tie and a reduced number of live generators.
Island Offshore selected a cBull Energy Storage System
With a large battery pack of 875 kWh for the vessel Island Clipper. The system can deliver a power output of 1800 kW, equal to one of the existing generators onboard.
